Collaboration with related groups
The Loss Adjusting Association of Japan (LAAJ) enhances its collaboration with the General Insurance Association of Japan (GIAJ; an industry group for damage insurance companies in Japan) and various organizations such as International Federation of Adjusting Associations (IFAA) with the aim of contributing to the sound development of loss adjustment work.
The GIAJ
The GIAJ has established the Insurance Payout False Claim Hotline and receives information 24 hours a day via the Internet. It also produces flyers to call attention to issues.
The LAAJ has built a system for providing logistical support to the GIAJ for firm responses to improper claims and moral risk regarding insurance payout claims and payments. It has also established a project team and working group inside the LAAJ to enhance responses. In the future, the project team and working group will serve as the contact point for further strengthening this collaboration via exchanges of opinions, study meetings, etc.
The IFAA
Via communication with adjuster associations across the world, the LAAJ works to obtain and utilize the latest information and also to learn from excellent systems in foreign countries for training and other purposes. The LAAJ collaborates with the IFAA and adjuster associations in other nations—as a member of the IFAA—with the goals of catching up with advanced adjustment industries across the world (which is becoming homogenized due to globalization), raising the level of adjustment work in Japan, and helping develop the industry.
The IFAA was founded in April 2000 and currently is made up of 13 groups. The major members include the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA; England), Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (CIIA; Canada), Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA; Australia), European Federation of Loss Adjusting Experts (FUEDI; EU member nations), Sri Lanka Association of Loss Adjusters (SLALA; Sri Lanka), Association of Malaysian Loss Adjusters (AMLA; Malaysia), National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters (NAIIA; United States), and Institute of Loss Adjusters of Nigeria (ILAN; Nigeria). The LAAJ has participated as an observer since the IFAA’s foundation and became an official member in 2002.
